Watch the First 10 Minutes of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”

captain_america__the_winter_soldierIt seems Marvel aims to tease the audience with more than a trailer for its soon to be released film “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”  The first ten minutes of the film just popped up online.

Like every other kid growing up, I was a big comic book fan.  And like every other kid growing up, when my back was turned, my parents tossed all of my comics out.  Okay, in fairness, they were probably in crap condition because I read them to death.  But I loved “Captain America.”  I mostly attribute that to three things in particular.  I loved the look of the costume.  I loved the look of the main villain (the Red Skull).  And I absolutely love that damn shield he carried around.  Captain_America_ShieldI wanted one so badly when I was a kid but they didn’t really make them.  And now that I can own one as an adult (thank you awesome toy manufacturers) I just haven’t bought one.  Why?  Because as an adult, I just can’t justify the cost of buying a high quality one.  And then there’s the problem of where the hell to put it.

Vintage Fonzie DollOkay, that’s all crap.  I’ll will eventually get around to buying one of those shields (because they’re cool).   And I’ll probably hang it on the wall.   One of the advantages of being an adult is that I can now own all of the stupid stuff that I wanted as a kid but was denied.  Just look at this vintage Fonzie doll I picked up a short while back.  Denied as a kid — Yes.  Denied as an adult — No.  Being a grown-up isn’t always fun.  I find that I have a lot more responsibilities plus the fun duty of paying taxes.  But hey,  I got myself a Fonzie!

Now I don’t need this stuff.  And I’m not even sure I still want it.  But in the long run, I find it’s probably cheaper to buy these things than to pay for all of the therapy I’d need in order to figure out this whole kid to adult ratio thing.

Here’s that clip.
