Popeye, a 1980 live-action musical comedy, was directed by Robert Altman and starred Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall. It was based on the popular Popeye comic strip.

The film received mixed reviews, and although made a profit, was still considered a flop by the studios.

PopeyvillageInterestingly, the location in the movie known as Sweethaven Village was completely constructed from scratch on the island of Malta (in the Mediterranean Sea). Now known as Popeye Village, it is still standing today and has become a huge tourist attraction. For more information on this, click HERE.
