‘TV Scripts’

Going Undercover With Two Veronica Mars’ Scripts

Veronica-Mars-DVD-boxIn celebration of the new “Veronica Mars” film that was just released (and reviewed in the previous post), I am posting two scripts from the television series.

For those who never heard of “Veronica Mars” it was a television series (originally on the now defunct UPN and later moved to the CW) about a teenage girl detective (played by Kristen Bell) set in the fictional town of Neptune, California.  Though the premise may sound a bit child-like and silly, it was actually an extremely well written and adult themed show.  The mysteries were on par with any crime drama currently on any of the networks (or cable).  And if I were to pitch this show, I’d say it was “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” without the vampires.

“I know you are but what am I?” – Pee-wee Herman

Pee-weeHas there ever been a better comeback?

Pee-wee Herman was, of course, the child-like construct of comedian Paul Reubens.  His Saturday morning show Pee-wee’s Playhouse” aired on CBS from September of ’86 to November of ’90.

Treking on with the Animated Star Trek Storyboards & Script

beholder1WIKI ON

Star Trek: The Animated Series (originally known as simply Star Trek, but also known as The Animated Adventures of Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek) is an animated science fiction television series set in the Star Trek universe following the events of Star Trek: The Original Series of the 1960s. The animated series was aired under the name Star Trek, but it has become widely known under this longer name (or abbreviated as ST: TAS or TAS) to differentiate it from the original live-action Star Trek. The success in syndication of the original live action series and fan pressure for a Star Trek revival led to The Animated Series from 1973–1974, as the source of new adventures of the Enterprise crew, the next being the 1979 live-action feature film Star Trek: The Motion Picture.”

Exclusive! Star Trek “The Cage” Unreleased Original Pilot Scripts

Star Trek The Cage TitleAs any Trekkie or Trekker or anyone that has any knowledge of the ‘Star Trek’ universe knows – “The Cage” was the original unaired Pilot that started it all.  This was before Kirk or McCoy entered the picture.  It introduced a Captain by the name of Christopher Pike (played by Jeffrey Hunter) and a much happier Mister Spock.  J.J. Abrams later recycled the Pike character for his ‘Star Trek’ reboot.

The Amazing Animated Spider-man Script & Writer’s Guide

spider-man-animated-1994Spider-man: The Animated Series that aired on Fox from 1994-1998 was the best of all the animated Spider-man programs to date. Each episode actually consisted of a story and an attempt at character development.  As storytelling in live action television seems to have evolved over the years, many of these animated programs (not included the prime time ones) have de-evolved.  I feel as if the newer animated programs have really been dumbed-down and their target audience seems to be aimed at five year olds (which is fine if you’re a five year old).

Scripting Through Time: “The Horns of Nimon” Doctor Who Script

I’ve been a huge ‘Doctor Who’ fan since before I could drink and fu…. uh, err, ummm… I mean to say drink milk and have fun.  Yay!  Milk and fun.

The Horns of Nimon (4)My first and favorite ‘Doctor Who?’  Why Tom Baker of course.  I’m not ashamed to admit that I used to go to ‘Doctor Who’ conventions when I was a kid.  Though I may not admit it on a first date – or a second, maybe third or tenth date.  Probably best to wait until after the wedding.  (Let’s just say that I’m very happy ‘Doctor Who’ has finally gone main stream.)

It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! No, it’s the Adventures of Superman Script!

Adventures of Superman TitleOn September 19th, 1952 a little show premiered known by the name of “The Adventures of Superman.”  Who’s this Superman character you ask?  He’s just some guy flying around in his underwear fighting for truth, justice and the American way (because in the 50’s, that was the only way).  Lucky for us viewers, when the show eventually ended, we had “Captain Nice” to pick up the superhero mantle in the late 60’s.  (Check out the video below.  It’s worth the viewing!)
