Visiting “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson Title CardSo what’s it like to be an audience member for the taping of a late night talk show? Well, let me tell you. For quite some time, I’ve meant to go see a live taping of “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” but it was always one of those things that I put off because I could do it anytime. But as soon as Ferguson announced his plans to leave the show by the end of the year, that thing I kept putting off became a ‘now or never’ situation.

The Second Greatest Prank Call of All Time!

Richard Christy and Sal GovernaleSo as long as I’m on a prank call roll, I thought I’d throw one more in.  This is probably my favorite prank call done by Richard Christy of the “Howard Stern Show” on SiriusXM.  Richard and his comedy partner, Sal Governale, routinely do prank calls on the Stern Show.  This one, though, has always stood out to me.  I remember the first time that I heard it, I just couldn’t stop laughing.  And I was amazed at the complexity of it.   So once again, I present another prank call for your pleasure.

One of the Greatest Prank Calls of all Time!

Jim FlorentineThe comedian Jim Florentine is undoubtedly one of the best prank callers of all time.  I’m sure everyone has their favorite prank call, but I’ve been reciting this one with a good friend of mine for years now and it shows no signs of slowing.  It just never gets old.  I present it here for your audio pleasure.  I’ve also included a PDF of the transcript for this call.  Enjoy!

White House Correspondents’ Dinner Videos

US-WhiteHouse-LogoHey gang, I thought I’d throw up some of the videos from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner from last night (May 3, 2014). What I have here is Joel McHale’s performance along with President Obama’s routine and the Julie Louis-Dreyfus – Joe Biden bit.  I’ve also included past videos of some of the other celebrities who have hosted this dinner.  I just thought I’d throw them all in one place for your convenience.   Enjoy!

Malcolm McDowell and “Time After Time”

Time After Time PosterI recently went to see a Q&A screening of “Time After Time” with Malcolm McDowell as the guest speaker. This took place at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California on April 8, 2014. Star Trek’s Nichelle Nichols was the special guest moderator (sort of). Another person (don’t remember his name) took care of most of the moderating duties. I think the special guest part is what Ms. Nichols basically fulfilled since she really wasn’t herself doing much moderating. All the same, it was good to see Uhura.

Lorenzo Semple Jr. and the Batman Scripts

10628-lorenzo-semple-jrLorenzo Semple Jr. was a screenwriter and playwright who is probably best known for his contributions to the 1960’s campy television show “Batman”  starring Adam West as the caped crusader and Burt Ward as his trusty sidekick.  Semple helped to develop and write for the series, including penning the feature film version based on it.

And The Next Actor to Portray Indiana Jones Should Be…

Indiana-Jones-bannerSo there have been a lot of rumors going around as to who would pick up the “Indiana Jones” mantel once Harrison Ford steps down.  The top rumor of the day is Bradley Cooper.  Personally, I always thought Josh Holloway (Lost, Intelligence) would have made a great “Indiana Jones.”  Harrison Ford is a very hard act to follow, but I always felt that Holloway had just the right amount of charm and charisma to follow in his footsteps.

Paul Walker’s “Fast and the Furious 7” CGI Test Footage

‘Fast-and-Furious-7’-to-Cast-Cody-Walker-not-FinalizedSo I’m not a huge “Fast and the Furious” fan.  I don’t dislike the films.  But I’m not dying to see them either.  Actually, I haven’t even seen them all yet.  I liked the fifth one, but I wasn’t terribly crazy about the sixth.  Maybe they are just a little too over the top for me.  I love cartoon action, but I think I would enjoy these more if they were just a bit more grounded.  I have the same problem with the “Die Hard” films.  They started off with a character who was portrayed as a real person and as the film series progressed, that character became more and more superhuman.  I still enjoyed them (not #5 at all), but I did have a harder time embracing them.  (For the record, the first “Die Hard” is the best action film of all time.)

The Know It All Joe Vault – Vintage “Star Wars” Interviews

694px-Star_Wars_Logo.svgSo I dug deep into my vault and found some old vintage “Star Wars” interviews from the early ’80’s.  To be more specific, they’re from “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”  These might already be available but I wasn’t going to do a huge search for them.  This was taken from old VHS tapes so the quality isn’t great but still watchable.
