“The Sopranos” Alternate and Definitive Ending (Video)

The SopranosBoy, was I pissed off when “The Sopranos” went off the air back in ’07.  That ‘cut to black’ ending was such a cop out.  I realize that people either loved it or hated it.  Well I was one of the people that hated it.  However you look at it, it really was a middle finger to the fans that followed the show for years.  David Chase can justify it anyway he wants, but that’s just not the kind of closure that you give to people.  I mean you don’t have to tie up every loose end, but you just can’t end the thing mid-scene and then tell the audience, “Hey morons, fill in the rest.  I’m going home.”

The Sopranos Cast PhotoBottom line – you owe the audience some sense of closure.  I felt it was bizarre and awkward to end the show the way he did.  But it certainly did get people talking.  And debating.  And that debate came up again when it was thought that David Chase said in a recent interview with Vox that Tony Soprano was alive and well and that he did not kill him off at the end of the show.  Then later, according to Vulture, Chase claimed that he never said that and what he actually said was misconstrued.

Either way, I thought it was finally time to give “The Sopranos” the proper closure that it deserved.  You’re welcome!
