Gotham’

Pee-wee and Son? Know It All Joe’s Thought of the Day

Pee-wee HermanSo I watch this show “Gotham” on Fox.  You know, the show about Batman, but without Batman.  Well, he’s there, but he’s a kid still.  He’s at least fifteen to twenty years away from donning the cowl.  In truth, the show is about Gotham City before The Batman arrives.  So instead we follow the exploits of Detective James Gordon before he becomes Commissioner.  And to tell you the truth, I really like the show.  It sucked me in.  But I’m getting off track as to what this post is about.

“Gotham” featurette plus Screenshots

Fox just released a new featurette for their upcoming Batman prequel show “Gotham.”  It contains some new footage.  I’ve also included a bunch of screenshots from said footage.

Side Note * I quote a Nikki Finke Tweet  – ABC Upfront: Kimmel on ‘Gotham’: “You know that part of the story so boring every Batman movie skips right over it? Now that’s a series.”

Funny!  Certainly hope it doesn’t turn out to be true.  You be the judge.

GOTHAM Official Extended Trailer and Screenshots

gothamlogofoxThe Batman prequel series “Gotham” has been picked up for a series order.  The story follows young Jim Gordon’s days on the Gotham police force years before Batman arrived on the scene.  In the series, Bruce Wayne is still a child who has just witnessed the murder of his parents.  And a lot of bad guys are going to wish that event didn’t happen when he grows up.  We get younger versions of The Riddler, The Penguin, Catwoman, etc…  I’m not usually a fan of prequels because they just tend to spin their wheels until the more interesting part of the story comes along years later.  I very much enjoyed “Smallville,” but quite frankly, I just wanted to see Clark Kent become Superman.  Which he finally did ten years later for all of about two minutes.  But I am going to check this out.  And unless they do a time jump, Bruce Wayne will obviously never become Batman in the series (for which I doubt the feature film division will allow).  But hopefully the series can stand on it’s own two legs and show us a more interesting part of Gotham City other than its Dark Knight.
