Updated!!! Video from the Set of Terminator: Genesis

Submitted for your approval is some video from the making of “Terminator: Genesis.”  It’s mostly just a lot of explosions and gunfire.  I’d say they were most likely filming scenes involving mankind’s future war with the machines.  The movie is currently being shot in New Orleans and is slated for release July 1, 2015.

Terminator No Way, Jose!

Update: 5/23/2014 – So I just received my very first ‘Cease and Desist’ email from the lawyers representing Paramount Pictures.  It makes me all tingly inside.  I almost feel as if I lost my virginity all over again.   And yes, I realize I just left the door open for all sorts of trollness with that comment.  Do your best!

When I first noticed this video online, I thought it was interesting enough to share with all of you.  I certainly didn’t know at the time it was unauthorized.  The video was almost two minutes in length and just consisted of a bunch of explosions and gunfire.  No featured actors were involved.  None of the plot was revealed or spoiled in anyway.  It was just a little fun behind the scenes tidbit.  Even if I had known it was unauthorized, I couldn’t really see anyone in the Paramount stratosphere caring all that much.  If anything, I would think it helped to keep the excitement of this film alive and just something fun for the fans to view.

I understand that Paramount wants to control all of the content in regards to this film.  Perfectly understandable, of course.  They have a big financial investment at stake.  But sites like this one only try and help promote their films and keep the interest flowing, especially for severely fractured franchises such as “Terminator.” And since all we do is offer free promotion, maybe that should mean not micromanaging every little bit of information that may occasionally slip through the cracks or proceed to sic their lawyers on us if it does.  There really isn’t anything in it for me by posting stories on the new “Terminator” project.  I’ve got plenty of other things to post about.  I only threw this up there because I thought that a few fans might enjoy a small preliminary sneak peek at the making of this film.  But Paramount says ‘No way, Jose!”  And I sure as hell don’t want to get sued, because I can imagine that getting sued really sucks.

So I thought for fun, I would post the ‘Cease and Desist’ letter to give you an inside look at what one looks like.  But as I read it, it is worded in such a way that implies they can basically come after you if you share that as well.  Maybe I’m reading it wrong (I don’t do lawyer), but it’s really not worth the risk.  But essentially, all the letter really said (in non-lawyer) was to “Take the video clip down, Punk!  It ain’t yours. And we ain’t giving it to ya!  Bitch!” Okay, that’s not an exact quote, but wow, would I have mad respect for their lawyers if they wrote that.

But ultimately, for what it’s worth, I am a fan of the “Terminator” films (even the ones that aren’t so good) and I am very much looking forward to seeing this new one.

So you might have won this one, Paramount, but next time… well, you’ll probably win that one too.  But no more free promotion here.  Okay, that’s not true.  If the story is interesting enough, of course I’ll talk about it. But I will tell you this, when that movie final comes out… well, you’ll probably get my money.  I may even be first in line. You know what, I’m not doing a lot of winning here.  So that movie better be damn good.  The fans and I demand it!  Don’t make us sic James Cameron on you.  That guy will Avatar your ass!  So take that, Paramount!
