“Electra Woman and Dyna Girl” Returns!

Electra Woman and Dyna Girl Title Card“Electra Woman and Dyna Girl” was a female superhero program that was part of the Krofft Supershow back in the ‘70’s. It starred Diedra Hall as Electra Woman and Judy Strangis as her faithful sidekick Dyna Girl. When not fighting crime, they were known as Lori and Judy, magazine reporters. Essentially, the show was a take on the ‘60’s TV version of “Batman.”

It only ran for 1 season (1976-77) and spawned a total of 16 episodes (actually 8 episodes since each episode were 2 parts and only ran about 15 minutes each).

Helping them in their exploits was scientist Frank Heflin (Norman Alden), who built all of their exciting Electra devices and assisted them from their ElectraBase.

Electra Woman and Dyna Girl 2001In 2001, a pilot was made which was to bring Electra Woman back to our TV sets. It starred Markie Post (Night Court) as the title character and Anne Stedman as the new Dyna Girl. The pilot took on a different tone than its earlier incarnation. This new version never went to series.

Now let’s flash forward 14 years to the year 2015… and welcome the return once again of “Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.” This time, YouTube celebrities and actresses Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart will take on the roles of this superhero team-up. The show is shooting in Vancouver and and will most likely air sometime later this year on the web (though no air date has officially been announced).

A press release from Legendary Digital Media says… “The web series centers on “two superheroes as they move from Akron to Los Angeles in hopes of making it big in the crime fighting world, only to find competition with other vigilantes and infighting amongst themselves.””
