Reviewing Marvel’s Biggest Avengers Book Of All Time

Have you ever wanted a REALLY, REALLY BIG BOOK OF AVENGERS COMICS?  Well have I got something for you.

Taschen has just released the biggest book of Avengers comics you will ever find.  I don’t mean in terms of issues.  I mean in size.  This book is HUGE!!!!!!

Just like their previously released Spider-man book which I reviewed (CLICK HERE), this things covers the first 20 issues of The Avengers comics (from 1963 – 1965) when they first debuted.

They include such superheroes as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Hulk, Spider-man, Ant-man, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and most likely all of your other favorites that Marvel had to offer at the time.

In terms of quality, I will quote from the Taschen site since they can say it better than me:  The most pristine pedigreed comics have been cracked open and photographed for reproduction in close collaboration with Marvel and the Certified Guaranty Company. Each page has then been digitally remastered using modern retouching techniques to correct problems with the era’s inexpensive, imperfect printing—as if hot off of a world-class 1960s printing press.”

This first printing is limited to 5000 copies and will run you $200 on Taschen’s site.  But you can find it cheaper on Amazon.  I’ll provide links below.

They also offer a special collector’s edition of this book (because, you know, why not?).  But the only really difference is that it comes with a slip case.  Again, I quote Taschen: “This deluxe volume features an aluminum print cover tipped into a leatherette-bound spine, foil embossing, and is housed in a slipcase.”

This collector’s edition will run you a whopping $600.00.  If you’re a super fan, go for it.  I’m a super-ish kind of fan, so I’ll stick with the $200 version.  The collector’s edition is limited to 1000 numbered copies.

The regular and collector’s edition comes in a Hardcover, with dimensions 11 x 15.6 inches and weighs a hefty 9.76 pounds for the regular edition and 15.18 pounds for the collector’s edition. So I hope you’ve been hitting the gym and lifting those weights.  And both editions contain a total of 630 pages.

These do look and feel just like the regular sized comics, only larger.  I love them.  My only gripe is that I have no room to store them.  They are too big for a book shelf.  Well, at least my book shelf.  I wouldn’t mind having these in smaller editions, but that just happens to be the novelty of it – the fact that these comics are giant sized.

Anyhow, if you want a closer look at this Avengers edition, check out my video unboxing and review below.  And here are some links if you’re interested in purchasing.
